Business Analyst Core Banking

Garanti BBVA International (GBI) is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support the implementation of its new cloud-native Core Banking platform as part of its Retail Banking Transformation Program.
The Business Analyst will play a key role in translating business requirements into functional solutions, supporting solution design, coordinating implementation activities, and ensuring successful delivery of retail banking products including current accounts, savings accounts and deposits.
The successful candidate will work closely with Business Owners, Operations, Technology, Implementation Partners and Vendor specialists throughout the entire implementation lifecycle. As a senior Business Analyst, you are proactive and contributing to both the analysis phase as well as the execution phase.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and objectives.
Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and testable functional specifications.
Work closely with developers, architects, and QA teams to ensure solutions meet business expectations.
Analyze and model business processes to identify areas for improvement and automation.
Support project planning, including scope definition, timeline estimation, and risk assessment.
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and meetings to gather and validate requirements.
Assist in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure successful solution delivery.
Maintain documentation including business requirements, process flows, and user guides.
Monitor and report on project progress, issues, and risks.
Team player as we work with local and near shore teams as well as vendors
Conduct functional (smoke) tests and analyses to ensure that applications in scope meet or exceed specified standards and business requirements. Drafts, revises and approves functional and smoke test plans to ensure alignment with change management processes. Coordinates with users to plan user acceptance testing. Ensures that system tests are successfully completed and documented. Maintain a Release Calendar for application changes.
Is aware of risks involved in respect of the required changes and proposes solutions to mitigate them.
Is aware of security aspects with respect to information security and proposes solutions to mitigate them.
Provides suggestions to improve application lifecycle management and change management processes within the practice.

You are an experienced banking professional with a strong understanding of retail banking products, core banking systems and end-to-end banking operations. You enjoy translating business needs into practical solutions and have a structured, analytical approach to solving complex challenges. You thrive in collaborative, cross-functional environments, working closely with business, operations, finance, compliance and technology teams to deliver successful outcomes. You are comfortable working in an Agile environment, take ownership of your work and communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. With a proactive mindset and a keen eye for detail, you can balance operational excellence with the bigger picture, helping to deliver complex change initiatives from design through to implementation and go-live.
Skills/Qualifications:
Retail Banking Knowledge: Strong understanding of current and savings accounts, term deposits, interest calculation, fees and charges, account lifecycle management, retail payments, banking operations, customer servicing, and regulatory requirements.
Core Banking Experience: Hands-on experience implementing modern core banking platforms (preferably Mambu, Thought Machine, or Pismo), with strong knowledge of SaaS-based core banking solutions.
Finance and Accounting Expertise: Experience configuring core banking products, accounts, interest, fees, accounting rules, GL mappings, account lifecycle, ledger postings, authorization holds, and financial accounting processes.
Product Configuration: Ability to define and configure banking products, customer eligibility, business rules, product lifecycle events, and accounting configurations with a configuration-over-customization approach.
Integration Analysis: Experience defining integrations between core banking and enterprise systems, including payment hubs, sponsor banks, SEPA infrastructure, CRM, channels, reporting, regulatory, and data platforms.
Data Migration & Analysis: Knowledge of data mapping, customer, account, balance, and historical transaction migration, including validation of migration results.
Business & Process Analysis: Expertise in functional analysis, process modelling, gap analysis, business rules, user stories, acceptance criteria, and optimization of banking operations.
Payments Knowledge: Working knowledge of SEPA Credit Transfers, SEPA Instant Payments, payment lifecycle, account postings, reconciliation, and sponsor banking models.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Experience supporting test preparation, SIT, UAT, regression testing, defect management, production validation, and business acceptance testing.
Agile Delivery: Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Jira, Confluence, and user story management.
Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to collaborate across business, operations, finance, compliance, architecture, integration teams, implementation partners, and vendors.
Project Delivery: Experience supporting end-to-end implementation activities including functional design, environment readiness, sprint execution, go-live preparation, hyper-care and project governance.
Preferred Experience:
5–10+ years as a Business Analyst in Retail Banking or Digital Banking transformation programmes.
Proven experience delivering at least one end-to-end Core Banking implementation, preferably (Mambu, Thought Machine, or Pismo)
Experience working with SaaS, API-first and cloud-native platforms.
Experience with composable banking architectures and microservices-based ecosystems.
Familiarity with Mambu, Thought Machine, or Pismo product configuration, lending/deposit models, and accounting concepts is highly desirable.
Experience working with implementation partners and third-party vendors.

Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex topics to both business and technical audiences.
