We are seeking a Business Process Engineer (BPE) with strong expertise in process design, optimization, and transformation within the banking sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in streamlining and enhancing core banking processes—including account onboarding, loan origination, payments, compliance, and customer service—ensuring they are efficient, customer-centric, and fully aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives.
Your role:
As a Business Process Engineer (BPE) in the banking sector, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and continuously improving business processes to enhance customer experience, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. Working within the Business Process Engineer (BPE) team, you will take an end-to-end view of core banking processes—such as account onboarding, loan origination, payments, compliance, and customer service—ensuring they are well-integrated, cost-effective, and aligned with the bank’s strategic goalsYou will collaborate closely with business units, IT, operations, risk and compliance teams to analyze “as-is” processes and develop “to-be” process models. Your role will be central to delivering transformation initiatives that simplify operations, reduce risk, and deliver measurable business value.
Duties & responsibilties:
- Analyse and document existing (“as-is”) banking processes across Retail, Corporate, and Digital Banking domains.
- Design and improve lean, effective (“to-be”) processes that enhance service delivery, reduce operational risk, improve turnaround times, and align with the Bank’s strategy, priorities, regulations, and efficiency objectives.
- Lead and manage process design initiatives, data structures, and dashboards; identify requirements for changes; and ensure seamless implementation of system enhancements in close coordination with business lines, analysts, data teams, and relevant stakeholders.
- Take ownership of process design and project management activities, including the development and maintenance of process maps, ARIS models, catalogues, and related deliverables.
- Work closely with Compliance, Risk, Audit functions to ensure all process designs meet internal controls and regulatory requirements (e.g., KYC, AML, GDPR).
- Coordinate with Product Owners, Engineering, and IT teams to ensure change requests and system enhancements are effectively implemented in line with design standards.
- Utilize data and automation technologies (e.g. RPA, OCR, workflow tools) to drive process improvements, monitor, and evaluate profitability and efficiency outcomes.
- Continuously monitor process performance, transaction volumes, and processing times, evaluate outcomes, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Drive business efficiency and innovation by adopting industry best practises and emerging technologies.
- Communicate application and process changes across the bank and coordinate stakeholder actions to support successful implementation.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of banking operations and products (e.g., current accounts, credit cards, lending, treasury, trade finance, payments).
• Experience in process reengineering within a regulated financial institution is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel III, KYC/AML, FATCA, PSD2, and local banking regulations.
• Knowledge of banking platforms (e.g., Temenos, SWIFT, Bloomberg) and integration with CRM, ECM, and digital channels.
• Working experience with process modelling tools (e.g., Visio, ARIS, Signavio) and methodologies like Lean Six Sigma or BPMN.
• Exposure to digital transformation, RPA, AI/ML in banking processes is a plus.
• Strong data-driven approach to decision-making, combined with creative problem-solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related field.
