The Payments and Screening Systems Technical Application Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s payment and screening systems (Transaction and Customer) offerings, ensuring seamless execution of end-to-end payment processes and timely compliance with regulatory requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of the payments value chain, related information architectures, and ICT solutions. The role involves high complexity due to the intersection of technology, compliance, and business development. Knowledge and experience of Java, Python programming languages is a plus. Prior experience with low-code development platforms would be beneficial. It is primarily a technical role however as this domain involves business-critical applications such as Swift, Document management, Anti-fraud and Sanctions screening ; functional understanding of banking, payments and sanctions screening is preferable.
Your role:
Key Responsibilities:
Payment Operations & Expertise:
- Develop and optimize end-to-end payment processes including Instant Payments, SEPA Payments, TARGET2, SWIFT, ISO20022.
- Ensure operational excellence in payment processing, including adherence to cut-off times, error resolution, and reconciliation.
- Oversee and enhance the use of cloud-based services such as SWIFT Service Bureaus.
Business and Product Development:
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of payment products and services tailored to customer needs.
- Collaborate with product teams to design innovative payment solutions and support go-to-market strategies.
Information Architecture & ICT Solutions:
- Design and implement payment-related information architectures, ensuring alignment with core banking systems.
- Support the integration of ICT solutions for payment processing, cash, and liquidity management.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud-based technologies to enhance payment processes.
Business Consulting:
- Act as an expert business consultant, advising internal teams on core banking, payments, and cash and liquidity management.
- Provide insights on business processes and information system architectures, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure payment processes comply with European and international regulations.
- Mitigate operational risks by maintaining robust controls and audit trails.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal teams, including IT, Finance, and Legal, to align payment strategies.
- Engage with external partners, such as banks, payment service providers, and regulatory bodies
- Affinity with project maanagement

Skills/Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of Instant Payments, SEPA, TARGET2, SWIFT and ISO20022 and payments related regulations such as PSD2.
- Strong understanding of the SWIFT network, including cloud-based solutions like SWIFT Service Bureau.
- Expertise in core banking systems and their integration with payment and screening processes.
- Familiarity with MS Azure and Integration Services
- Ability to understand and design complex payment flows with integration to all internal and external systems
- Expertise in the implementation of Transaction and Customer Screening systems.
- Experience with API technologies
- Experience with secure file transfer methods and message queues
Application life-cycle management
- Support application upgrade, release & change deployment
- Co-ordination & Support for User Acceptance Testing
- Technical analysis & support for resolving application incidents, change requests, risks & security vulnerabilities
- Implement SSL certificate renewals in test and production systems
- Creation of technical documentation such as deployment manuals, release notes
Low-code development platform
- Develop, test and deploy secure file-transfer flows connecting various applications within the bank
- Automate reusable technical solutions
- Support troubleshooting and investigation for failure of critical processes
- Identify operational improvements and develop flows to minimize manual interventions
Regression Testing
- Support the designing and creation of regression tests for various applications in the CBPS domain
- Perform regression testing post deployment of releases, changes
Database
- Develop standardized DB queries to support various user requests , DB related incident analysis
- Support activities related to data anonymization , creation of test data and dummy test messages for regression testing
Change Management
- Ability to proactively support and implement efficient change management by correctly assessing the business outcome versus change impact in respect with applications related changes and incidents
Leadership and Communication:
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to influence and guide organizational decision-making
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills
Other
- General knowledge of banking applications in different business areas (core banking, document management, payments systems, corporate / retail systems, compliance, treasury, finance etc.)
- Vendor management
- Knowledge of software developments methods and Agile methodologies like Scrum
- Knowledge of Atlassian stack tools Jira and Confluence
- Strong communication skills and an international outlook
- Deals effectively with pressure, remains calm, objective and in control in stressful situations
- Ability to work under pressure
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in payments, banking, or financial technology preferably in financial sector or banks more specifically
- Relevant certifications are a plus
