Trade and Commodity Finance (“TCF”) is the bank’s core business. The division has been operating since GBI’s establishment in 1990, developing expertise in the commodity industry with an excellent reputation for its services. Division’s business approach is relationship-based and tailor-made, with a selected number of commodity traders as clients with which business-specific solutions are developed and long-term relationships are maintained. Products & services offered include bilateral facilities covering agricultural commodities, metals, mining, oil and petrochemicals as well as syndicated corporate loan facilities and structured trade finance products.

Your role
At the TCF Metals Desk, you will be part of the team and have direct client contact with clients based all around the world. We are a unique subsidiary of BBVA group with cross border mandate, a dynamic multicultural desk and a willingness to grow the portfolio. You will act as a key point between traders, middle office, back office, legal and credit department. You are responsible to maintain and grow the portfolio both from assets generation and PnL perspective, offering tailor made financing solutions to the clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively follows commodity markets and trade flows to originate new clients for the Bank
- Negotiates term-sheets with clients and presents credit proposals to Credit Committee
- Supports and executing pricing, securing and structuring clients’ transactions
- Executes credit utilizations and follows up credit exposure
- Steers internal execution with relevant departments
- Joins site-trips, conferences and represents GBI
- Accomplishes ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Director
- Ensures GBI’s promise “to deliver fast, accurate, tailor-made and innovative solutions” is fulfilled at all times
- Evaluates commodity related markets on both micro and macro level, strives to increase commodity related know-how including market developments, regulations and trends
- Reports to the Director of Metals Desk, Trade & Commodity Finance.
As a Relationship Manager, you need
- University degree – preferably in economics, business administration or international finance.
- Exposure to International Trade and knowledge of commodity trading companies.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience and mid-level knowledge of the (metals) commodity market, International Trade, Trading companies and Trade Finance.
- Highly motivated, ambitious, team player, open minded and curious by nature.
- Demonstrates creativity, organized and pay attention to detail.
- Risk management, ownership with credit analysis skills (balance sheet analysis and business model analysis). Good risk perception is a plus.
- Meet deadline and able to execute as well as deliver under time constraints.
- Strong negotiating skills and “hands-on” mentality, able to take rational decisions in difficult situations.
- Client-oriented.
- Willingness to travel.
- Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing, an additional language is considered a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other program is a plus.
